Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is inviting applications for a Locum Consultant in Genitourinary Medicine to cover a period of maternity leave. This post is offered at 6 programmed activities (PAs).
The successful candidate will join an established and supportive clinical team comprising Consultant in Genitourinary Medicine, supported by a Speciality Doctor. Together, the team delivers high-quality care across Sexual Health management and a comprehensive range of contraceptive services.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of an integrated sexual health service, enhance patient care pathways, and further improve outcomes for individuals. The service provides outpatient care, supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including a specialist pharmacist and clinical psychologist.

Provide a high-quality integrated contraception and sexual health service to outpatients attending WISH Walsall Sexual Health Service, which is delivered by the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. Clinics will be a combination of complex and non-complex sexual health, contraception advice and opportunity to have procedure clinics fitting LARCs depending on competency level.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities.
A new Urgent Emergency Care Centre was opened in March 2023. The two-storey development has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity and has provided almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.
- Provide at least 5-6 sexual health / contraception outpatient clinics per week, seeing both follow up and new patients.
- Support and provide teaching to undergraduates, junior medical staff, nurses and primary care colleagues as required within the clinical setting.
- To provide specialist advice to colleagues within the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust in other specialities as required providing optimum delivery of patient care.
- Demonstrate involvement with clinical governance, risk management and audit processes.
- Participate in continued professional development, multidisciplinary and clinical meetings, and other postgraduate activity to provide up to date clinical care.
- Participate in mandatory training, annual appraisals and annual job planning process and revalidation.
- Contribute to the departmental team system of cover for annual, study and professional leave and deputise for absent colleagues as far as is practicable.
- Maintain professional standards as set out by the General medical council.
