We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join our vibrant café team at The Drift Cafe, Cresswell. Under new ownership (Wild North Cafe Ltd – also known as The Sidecar Guys), we’re entering an exciting new chapter and are building a fun, supportive workplace where great service and good vibes come first.
This role is key to keeping the kitchen clean, organised and running smoothly, supporting the kitchen team to deliver excellent service. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, reliable and enjoy working as part of a busy kitchen team in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Wash and clean pots, pans, utensils, equipment and kitchenware efficiently throughout service.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen, wash-up and storage areas.
- Assist the kitchen team with general cleaning and keeping work areas organised.
- Ensure dishes, equipment and utensils are cleaned and available when needed.
- Assist with deliveries, stock movement and putting away supplies when required.
- Carry out routine cleaning tasks, including floors, surfaces, equipment and storage areas.
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety procedures.
- Support cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly during busy periods.
- Work efficiently and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Skills & Experience
- Previous kitchen porter or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
- Able to work quickly and efficiently, particularly during busy service periods.
- Good attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to get stuck in.
- Able to work well as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced kitchen environment.
