Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Garage Assistant / Vehicle Preparation Operative to join our team.
Join our dynamic team as a Garage Assistant / Vehicle Preparation Operative, where you will play a vital role in ensuring vehicles are ready for customer delivery and meet quality standards. This energetic position involves assisting with vehicle cleaning, inspection, and basic maintenance tasks, all while providing excellent customer service. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help us deliver top-notch service and maintain a smooth garage operation.
The role will involve a variety of garage, vehicle hire and taxi-related duties, helping to ensure our vehicles are clean, prepared, plated and ready for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Collecting and returning vehicles as required
- Collecting and delivering vehicle parts and supplies
- Assist with the cleaning, washing, and detailing of vehicles to ensure they are spotless and presentable.
- Support the team in preparing vehicles for customer handover, including checking fluid levels and tire pressures.
- Taking vehicles to be plated and inspected
- Drive vehicles within the premises safely to facilitate movement between different areas of the garage or lot.
- Obtaining and maintaining a Wolverhampton Taxi Driver Badge
- Completing the required knowledge test, DBS check and medical assessment as part of the badge application process
- Conduct basic vehicle inspections to identify any damages or issues that need addressing.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the garage area, including janitorial duties as needed.
- Follow safety protocols at all times, ensuring a secure environment for colleagues and visitors alike.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence held for a minimum of 3 years
- Must be aged 25 or over due to our vehicle insurance requirements
- Willing and able to obtain a Wolverhampton Taxi Driver Badge
- Willing to complete the required knowledge test, DBS check and medical
- Valid driving license with a clean driving record is essential.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive mindset with attention to detail and a commitment to safety standards.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Previous garage, vehicle hire or taxi experience would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right candidate
