Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND/PMLD Teacher to join our vibrant educational team. In this role, you will deliver specialized instruction and support to children with complex learning needs, including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). Responsibilities
- Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that cater to the unique needs of children with PMLD and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
- Use evidence-based approaches such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) and speech therapy techniques to enhance communication skills.
- Support children’s physical development through activities involving physical education and toddler or preschool care routines.
- Manage behavior effectively by employing positive behavior management strategies to create a safe and supportive classroom environment.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and parents, to ensure holistic support for each child.
- Monitor progress regularly, maintain detailed records, and proofread documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity in reporting.
- Mentor and guide teaching assistants or trainee teachers, sharing best practices in early childhood education and special education.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in early childhood settings, particularly those with complex needs or disabilities.
- Knowledge of special education principles, including Toddler care, preschool experience, and behavior management techniques.
- Skills in teaching subjects such as math, communication skills development, and physical education tailored for children with SEND.
- Familiarity with speech therapy methods, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and tutoring strategies for diverse learners.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external specialists.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning styles while maintaining high standards of care and education.
- Relevant qualifications in early childhood education or special education are highly desirable.
