Duties
- Lead food preparation and cooking activities to ensure timely delivery of delicious, visually appealing dishes
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to maintain high standards of food quality and safety
- Oversee food production processes, including ingredient handling, portion control, and presentation techniques
- Manage kitchen operations efficiently, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and adherence to health regulations
- Collaborate with other teams to coordinate serving times and special menu offerings
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimize waste through effective stock management
- Uphold food safety standards by implementing proper sanitation practices and conducting regular safety checks
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within a care home setting
- Supervising experience or team management skills in a kitchen environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling and an understanding of IDDSI levels.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and guide a the team
- Excellent kitchen experience with proficiency in various cooking techniques and food production methods
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and other staffing teams effectively
