The Guillemot Café is looking for an experienced Chef de Partie to join our seaside kitchen team.
We’re after someone who genuinely cares about good food, strong presentation, clean service, and high kitchen standards. This role would suit a chef who is confident in a busy service, organised in their section, and able to bring both consistency and creativity to the team.
We serve food people actually want to come back for, proper fry-ups, chowder, French toast, brunch plates, lunch dishes, and weekly specials that keep things fresh. We’re looking for someone who can deliver the favourites properly, while also bringing new ideas, good instincts, and a bit of flair when it comes to seasonal dishes and specials.
This is an important hire for us. You’ll be joining a close-knit kitchen team and we want someone who can lead by example through their standards, attitude, cleanliness, and cooking ability.
What the role looks like
You’ll be working in a fast-paced daytime café kitchen, helping to deliver a busy breakfast, brunch and lunch service in one of Bangor’s best-loved café spots. You’ll be involved in prep, service, presentation, stock awareness, kitchen organisation, and helping maintain a kitchen that runs cleanly and efficiently.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing and cooking dishes to a consistently high standard during service
- Helping deliver our core menu, from breakfast and brunch through to lunch
- Contributing ideas for weekly specials, seasonal dishes, and new menu development
- Maintaining strong presentation and attention to detail on every plate
- Keeping your section clean, organised, and service-ready at all times
- Supporting with prep, stock control, rotation, and kitchen organisation
- Following food hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards closely
- Working positively with the wider kitchen team to keep service smooth and standards high
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or strong experience in a similar professional kitchen role is essential
- A chef with solid cooking ability, pace, and confidence during busy services
- Someone with a genuine interest in food, current trends, and creating fresh, exciting specials
- Strong standards when it comes to cleanliness, organisation, and food safety
- A sharp eye for detail and pride in presentation
- Someone reliable, level-headed, and able to work well within a close team
- A positive attitude, good communication, and a sense of humour go a long way
- Someone who wants to contribute, not just clock in and out
The hours
A very decent shift pattern for the right chef:
Monday – Friday: 7:30am – 3:30pm
Saturday & Sunday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
No evenings. Ever.
The role is based around a 5-day week, including weekend work.
Why join us?
- Daytime hours only
- No late nights
- A busy, creative seaside café kitchen
- Room to contribute ideas and weekly specials
- Small team with a good atmosphere
- Great banter strongly encouraged
- A chance to be part of a kitchen that cares about doing things properly
If you’re an experienced chef who takes pride in your work, enjoys producing genuinely good food, and wants to bring ideas and standards to a strong daytime café kitchen, we’d love to hear from you.
