Staffpower Healthcare Recruitment is currently recruiting compassionate and dedicated Children's Residential Support Workers to support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and complex care needs within residential care settings across the North East.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in helping young people develop independence, confidence, and life skills while ensuring they feel safe, supported, and valued.
The Role
As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Support daily living activities, personal care, and social development.
- Implement individual care plans and behavioural support strategies.
- Promote emotional wellbeing, independence, and positive outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
What We're Looking ForEssential:
- Previous experience working with children and young people in residential care, healthcare, education, or social care settings.
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism, learning disabilities, or complex needs.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to transport.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong commitment to safeguarding and delivering outstanding care.
Desirable:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
- NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
- Training in Autism Awareness, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Safeguarding, or Medication Administration.
No Level 3 Qualification?

Shift Patterns
This role operates on a rota basis and includes:
- Long Day: 10:00am – 10:00pm
- Sleep-In: 10:00am – 7:00am (including overnight sleep-in)
- Early Shift: 7:00am – 10:30am
Flexibility is required, including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in duties.
