An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paediatric Clinical Leader to work as part of our team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Band 6 Paediatric Nurse to join our dynamic and supportive paediatric team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled clinician with strong leadership capability to take on a key role in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective care to children and young people within an acute paediatric setting. The successful applicant will demonstrate clinical expertise, a proactive approach to patient safety, and a commitment to continuous service improvement.
The post holder will support the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care, acting as a clinical leader and role model within the team.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as nurse in charge , coordinating shifts and ensuring safe staffing and patient flow
Delivering high standards of direct patient care , including care of acutely unwell children
Providing clinical leadership, supervision, and support to nursing staff and students
Managing and escalating clinical incidents and safeguarding concerns appropriately
Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver holistic care
Participating in audit, governance, and quality improvement initiatives
Supporting staff development , including mentorship, supervision, and appraisal processes
Ensuring effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

The Band 6 Sister will work with the MDT, including maternity colleagues and NWODN to ensure a seamless pathway of care for neonates and their families. Responsible for shift coordination and allocation of duties to junior staff, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring patient safety, involved in quality improvement and promotion of family integrated care.
