Rigger / Erector
Altrad are currently looking for experienced Rigger / Erectors to join the team for Outage Works.
This role will involve working 6 Days On, 1 Day Off – 10 Hour Shifts, Mobilisation Start Date 01/09/2026.
The position is paid inline with the NAECI agreement, with lodge and travel paid where applicable.
Key Deliverables:
- Carry out lifting, rigging and erection activities safely and in accordance with approved procedures and lifting plans.
- Execute lifting operations under the direction of the Appointed Person (AP) and in compliance with site requirements.
- Perform structural steel erection, alignment and installation activities.
- Interpret general arrangement, isometric and lifting drawings to determine work requirements.
- Inspect items to be lifted, assess lifting requirements and select appropriate lifting equipment and accessories.
- Attach and secure slings, chains, shackles and lifting equipment in accordance with lifting plans and industry best practice.
- Direct crane operators and lifting teams during lifting and positioning activities.
- Prepare and maintain safe working areas before, during and after lifting operations.
- Monitor lifting activities and report any defects, hazards or deviations from approved procedures.
- Act as a Permit Acceptor and ensure compliance with site permit-to-work systems where authorised.
- Ensure Critical Task procedures are followed for high-risk lifting and rigging activities.
- Maintain lifting equipment registers and support inspection and compliance requirements.
- Carry out associated activities including flame cutting, equipment preparation and installation support.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and reporting issues, defects and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to trainees and less experienced rigging personnel.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and workmanship at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, clients, subcontractors and regulatory representatives.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
- General secondary education or equivalent.
- Completed a recognised apprenticeship in Erecting, Rigging, Moving Loads or a related trade.
- NVQ Level 3, ACE Card or equivalent qualification in Erecting or Moving Loads.
- Valid CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent site-required safety certification.
- Demonstrable experience in lifting, rigging and structural steel erection activities within heavy industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of lift categories, lifting operations and execution methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, lifting plans and technical specifications.
- Sound knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging techniques and industry best practices.
- Experience planning and executing complex lifting operations.
- Critical task training and site-specific authorisations as required by the project.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience:
- Appointed Person (AP) certification.
- Experience operating overhead cranes, polar cranes or similar lifting equipment.
- Experience within the oil & gas, petrochemical, thermal power generation or nuclear sectors.
