Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painting and Decorating professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for enhancing the aesthetic appeal and protection of various surfaces across residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
Duties
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling cracks, and applying primers to ensure optimal adhesion of paint or finishes
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains, wallpapers, and other decorative coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, or other tools
- Execute specialised decorative techniques such as faux finishes, colour washing, or mural painting as required
- Install protective coverings on floors and furniture during painting projects to prevent damage
- Collaborate with clients and team members to select appropriate colours and finishes according to project specifications
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring safety protocols are adhered to at all times
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards
Experience
- Proven experience in construction painting, decorating, or related trades such as carpentry, roofing, masonry, or plumbing is highly desirable
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools (e.g., brushes, scrapers) and power tools (e.g., spray guns, sanders) is essential
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques relevant to decorating projects is advantageous
- Experience working on diverse surfaces including wood, plaster, brickwork, metal, and specialised materials such as wallpaper or textured finishes
- Ability to interpret technical drawings or project specifications accurately
- Prior exposure to electrical or welding environments is beneficial but not mandatory
Candidates should demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. A valid driving licence is preferred but not essential.
