Axcis Education is currently recruiting caring and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a specialist school in Plymouth.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience supporting vulnerable children or adults who are looking to make a real difference and develop a rewarding career within education.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Work closely with teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning activities.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual pupils.
- Encourage pupils' independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Help create a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment.
- Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of each child.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for candidates who:
- Have experience supporting vulnerable children or vulnerable adults.
- Have a caring, patient, and positive approach.
- Are flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to different school environments.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Are passionate about supporting children with SEND.
- Can commit to either part-time or full-time work.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Care Assistant, Youth Worker, Nursery Practitioner, or Healthcare Assistant.
- Experience supporting individuals with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or SEMH needs.
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Health & Social Care, or Childcare.
