Accounts & Audit Senior | Ampthill £44,000 – £50,000 | Full-time or Part-time (22.5 – 37.5 hrs/week)
Audit work that goes beyond the desk.
This is a strong opportunity for an ambitious practice accountant ready to take real ownership of client work. Joining a growing firm at their Ampthill office, you'll take a lead role across a varied portfolio - split roughly 60:40 between audit and accounts - working with both local businesses and clients with national reach, both on-site and remotely.
You'll be involved at every stage of the audit process: planning, review, and completion. And with developing people management responsibilities built into the role, this is as much about growing as a professional as it is about delivering technically excellent work.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion
- Preparing statutory accounts and tax returns across a varied client base
- Working with local clients as well as nationally-facing engagements
- Mentoring and training junior team members
What we're looking for:
- Minimum AAT qualified; progressing through ICAEW Professional Stage or ACCA equivalent
- Close-to qualified, newly qualified or qualified by experience - all considered
- Solid UK practice background with demonstrable audit competence
- Strong communicator with good time management and an eye for budgets
- Someone who finds developing others genuinely rewarding
The flexible bit: the firm will consider candidates looking for anything from 22.5 to 37.5 hours per week - making this a rare audit role with genuine flexibility built in from the start.
Benefits include flexible working, hybrid arrangements for qualified staff, 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, holiday purchase scheme, paid overtime, income protection insurance, life assurance (4x salary), pension, Employee Assistance Programme, full study support, paid professional subscriptions, and on-site parking.
Pay: £44,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
