Shape A Life have partnered with a specialist SEMH school in Stoke-on-Trent, which is seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join their team. This specialist setting supports pupils aged 3–19 with a wide range of additional needs.
This is an incredibly rewarding but challenging role, ideal for someone who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping every pupil achieve their full potential. You'll work alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every child is encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils aged 3–19 with a range of complex special educational needs, including autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and communication needs
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
- Support pupils with communication using a range of strategies, including visual supports and alternative communication methods where appropriate
- Help pupils develop independence, confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills throughout the school day
- Create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels safe, valued, and supported
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver high-quality, personalised support

What You Should Know
Weekly pay of £497 per week – term time only.
This is a specialist SEN setting supporting children and young people with a broad range of complex additional needs. Due to the nature of the pupils' needs, the role can be physically and emotionally challenging at times, requiring resilience, adaptability, and a calm approach. However, it is also an incredibly rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people who need your support most.
