The Role
You will become part of the core Gorilla operational team working closely with the various internal departments to deliver our winter operations. In contrast to our summer events, these installations will operate similarly to established venues over the course of approximately two months.
Being on the Gorilla venue management team means you see both the production prep and the front line of an impeccable service. Our drinks delivery remains a key focus of the business and you will be driving this forward playing your part in training sessions of temporary event staff and working with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth service.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
Working with the HQ General Management team, you will help lead a front of house service team, preparing and delivering service to a high standard by:
- Ensuring that the venue and facilities are clean and organized.
- Leading the core event back of house operation, including stock management
- Maintaining clean, tidy and efficient work areas that meet food hygiene standards at all times
- Upholding the high quality and safety standards expected of Gorilla
- Attend weekly review meetings, offering feedback, be involved in strategic decision making
In additional to these responsibilities, you will be upskilled by the HQ management team to lead on the following areas:
- Act as a point of contact with the client
- Prepping stock orders
- Product and sales reporting
- Delivering meaningful rota feedback to the staffing team
- Internal EHO auditing
Hours, Rates & Bonus
Being at Gorilla Events is demanding and this will feel like a long run. We hope to use this time to develop interested supervisors in areas of event management and provide the opportunity to upskill. Shifts patterns will be agreed with the staffing team in advance with rotas being provided for a fortnightly period at a time.
GM hourly rates: £20.08 base rate plus £2.42 holiday pay = £22.50 per hour take home pay
In addition, there will be performance-based bonuses paid at the end of the period. This amount will up to 5% of the total pay for that period. The amount will be based on two factors; personal performance and the performance of the venue.
Performance targets will be split into the following areas:
- Food Hygiene – maintaining clean and hygienic operations at all times
- Service standards – consistently delivering quality service
- Stock Management – efficient end of night stock takes and paperwork
- Staff Management – managing staff through feedback and training – managing clocking in and out
- Staff Ratio – i.e. managing staff levels on quieter periods
Experience & Skills Required
- Excellent knowledge of bar operations and leading a busy cocktail service
- Excellent cocktail knowledge and proven experience of exceptional service delivery
- Proven experience in a previous wet led, general manager role in the hospitality industry
- Proven experience managing and training staff to ensure impeccable service delivery
- Personal License Holder - essential
- Food Hygiene Level 2 - preferred but not essential
- First Aid at Work - preferred but not essential
Pay: £22.50 per hour
Work Location: In person
