Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Stone Wall Pointing Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for restoring and maintaining the aesthetic and structural integrity of stone walls through expert pointing techniques. Duties
- Carefully remove deteriorated or damaged mortar from stone walls using hand tools and specialised masonry tools.
- Prepare joints for pointing by cleaning and ensuring proper adhesion surfaces.
- Apply new mortar with precision, ensuring consistency in colour and texture to match existing wall features.
- Use power tools and hand tools efficiently to cut, shape, and finish mortar joints.
- Assist with the installation of new stonework or repairs as required, including basic carpentry or roofing tasks if necessary.
- Maintain a clean work environment by clearing debris and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects within specified deadlines while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.
Requirements
- Proven experience in bricklaying, masonry, or stone wall pointing is preferred.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as chisels, trowels, and pointing irons.
- Familiarity with power tools used in masonry work.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, roofing, and welding is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift moderate loads safely.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to ensure quality workmanship.
- Good physical fitness with the ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks accurately.
- A recognised qualification or apprenticeship in masonry or related trades is desirable but not mandatory.
