Duties of a Health Care Assistant
- Provide personal care to residents or clients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and mobility, ensuring comfort and safety at all times
- Support the development and implementation of individual care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members
- Assist with medication management and monitor health status, reporting any changes or concerns promptly
- Maintain clear, respectful communication with clients, families, and team members to ensure coordinated care delivery
- Drive between different locations for home care visits as needed, ensuring timely and reliable service delivery
- Document all care activities accurately using IT systems and ensure compliance with privacy regulations
- Promote a positive environment by engaging clients in meaningful activities and encouraging social interaction
Skills of a Health Care Assistant
- Valid driving license and ability to drive safely between locations for home care assignments
- Experience working in a care home setting or providing home care services is highly desirable
- Knowledge of creating and following personalized care plans tailored to individual needs
- Proficiency in using IT systems for documentation and communication purposes
- Excellent communication skills in English to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships quickly
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to healthcare environments
