Looking for a role where your work will be recognised and your skills enhanced?
My clients is an industry specialist, not a giant. They design, install and run condition monitoring across the UK electricity network. Partial discharge, circuit breaker monitoring, SF6 gas density, transformer DGA. When a substation stays up instead of going dark, that is the kit doing its job.
In the business you'll know everyone, your work will be visible, and there's a genuine route to becoming the technical lead in a growing niche fro the right person. They are ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 accredited, Achilles UVDB Silver Plus verified, and we hold a Silver Award Armed Forces Covenant accreditation from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. We train properly and we promote from within.
What you would actually be doing
- Installing new condition monitoring systems, including subsystems and comms, inside live HV compounds
- Partial discharge (PD) monitors, circuit breaker condition monitoring, SF6 gas density monitoring, transformer dissolved gas analysers
- Site surveys and electrical testing
- Removing and relocating existing systems
- Corrective maintenance when something needs sorted
- Looking after spares and service equipment back at base
- Writing the reports and documentation clients make decisions from
No two weeks look the same. No two sites look the same either.
Where it could lead
- The plan is for you to become the PD specialist and lead for the field service team.
- If you have the desire and the work ethic the career path is there.
- You will get the training, the support and the backing to pick up further accreditations as you go.
The travel
- Regular travel across the UK. Which is changeable but planned in advance as best we can to offer some flexibility.
- Use of Company vehicles and overnight stay allowance when working away. (There may be work further afield in future if that appeals)
What you need
- At least 2 years troubleshooting, installing or maintaining electrical equipment
- HND or above in a relevant engineering discipline
- A genuine problem solver. Kit does not always behave on site and there is no one to hand it to
- Strong written and verbal communication. The reports matter as much as the install
- Self starter, can-do attitude, willing to learn
- Full UK driving licence
- Full right to work in the UK
- Able to pass a basic disclosure check
Helpful, not essential
- PD knowledge
- Power industry experience
- Data handling, planning, analysis and reporting
If you have the electrical grounding and the attitude, we will teach you the rest.
What you get
- Competitive salary
- Overnight stay allowance
- Contributory pension scheme
- Life insurance
- A clear route to PD specialist and team lead
- Training and support towards further accreditations
Pay: £25,588.56-£45,505.19 per year
