Deli Assistant

We’re looking for a confident, food-loving Deli Assistant to join our friendly team at Great Cornish Food Store. As an employee-owned business, we’re proud to work together to deliver great service, beautiful displays and high-quality local food.
The role
You’ll help run our deli counter day to day, keeping it fresh, well-stocked and beautifully presented. You’ll serve customers, offer product advice, prepare and wrap products, and work closely with our kitchen and café teams to deliver a brilliant shopping experience.
What you’ll be doing
· Serving customers with warmth, confidence and excellent product knowledge.
· Preparing, weighing, labelling and wrapping deli products to a consistently high standard.
· Creating attractive, well-merchandised displays that maximise sales and minimise waste.
· Keeping the counter clean, stocked and ready for service throughout the day.
· Following food hygiene, HACCP, health and safety, cleaning and monitoring procedures.
· Supporting the café and kitchen teams during busy periods when needed.
About you
· You love good food and enjoy talking to customers.
· You’re interested in Cornish produce, seasonality, provenance and quality.
· You’re organised, reliable and comfortable working in a fast-paced team.
· You take pride in presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail.
· You’re keen to learn, take instruction and grow your skills.
· Food hygiene training or relevant deli/food retail experience would be an advantage, but training can be provided.

Hours
The store is open 7 days a week, so applicants must be available to work weekdays, weekends and Bank Holidays. Shifts are currently rota’d between 7.30am and 7pm Monday to Saturday, and 8.30 am to 4.30pm on Sundays. Opening hours may occasionally extend for seasonal or special events.
