This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior leadership role at the heart of the federated Economy and Place Directorate, working across Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen Councils. As Head of Community-Led Regeneration and Placemaking, you will lead the delivery of regeneration and placemaking activity that strengthens communities, improves place quality, supports inclusive growth and helps realise the potential of our towns, neighbourhoods and cultural assets.
You will play a key role in translating agreed place-based strategies, Local Development Plans and investment priorities into practical, high-quality delivery. Working closely with senior leaders, elected members, partners, communities and multi-disciplinary teams, you will ensure that regeneration, placemaking and place quality activity is coherent, outcome-focused and community-led.
We are looking for an experienced regeneration, placemaking or place-based delivery leader who can operate confidently in a complex, politically sensitive and partnership-based environment. You will bring strong professional judgement, excellent communication and influencing skills, and a proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and complex programmes across organisational boundaries.
The right candidate will combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. You will be values-led, collaborative and resilient, with a strong commitment to inclusive, ethical and community-led regeneration. You will be able to build trust with communities and partners, provide visible leadership to staff, manage risk and performance effectively, and maintain a clear focus on outcomes, value for money and public benefit.
