Job Role: Senior Social Care Worker (Known as Team Leader)
Responsible to: Care Home Manager.
Qualifications: QCF Health & Social Care Level 3 Children and Young People
Training In Attachment & Trauma /Therapeutic approaches.
Essential - Good IT skills - recording and reporting -essential understanding of RISCA regulations. The ability to deliver staff supervisions and assist in mentoring new staff during their probation periods. To have the relevant knowledge base and capability to deputise in the absence of a care home manager.
A Clean Full UK Drivers Licence .
Desirable - at least 2- 1 Years Experience: As a senior care worker and or team leader in a busy residential children's home . You will need to be someone that is highly organised - works well under pressure - a good mentor - goal orientated when it comes to the delivery of quality of care. Must be flexible and prepared to go the extra mile.
QCF Level 4 is potentially on offer on passing your probation period & is subject to competency abilities.
Registration: Ideally to be registered with Social Care For Wales & DBS update service.
Full UK drivers Licence
Hours: 24 Hour 3 week Rolling Rota ( Sample Week 1 Mon Thurs Sat Week 2 Tues Fri Sun/Week 3 Wed ) Your hours are planned in advance and aimed to give a good work life balance) an average of just 10 shifts per month.
On Call Duties and to cover for any staff shortages

Essentials & Experience. At least 2-1 years in post as a team leader in a Registered Children’s Home (ESBD) Relevant knowledge in key areas: Current Legislation, Compliance ,All aspects of performance mgt. , staff supervisions, annual appraisal's Safeguarding, impact of neglect, ,domestic abuse, self harm, attachment disorders, risk assessments at all levels, strategies for safe guarding against child sexual exploitation, ADHD, strategies for managing challenging behaviour, restorative justice approaches, Key working, placements plans, preparing for lac reviews, preparing children for leaving care, life skills. General. Absence Management of staff, Financial Management of budgets and petty cash returns, staff rota. Supporting the care home manager in achieving company goals.
Competencies: Legislation, Compliance, Leadership & Management, Team Working, All Key aspects of Communication , Recording & Reporting Performance Management, Mentoring and Coaching, Conflict Management, Organisational, Problem Solving Skiills, Delegation, Monitoring and Support. The ability to support the registered manager and to contribute to continuous improvement and achieve positive outcomes for children. Contributing to securing positive inspection reports.
Flexible with work hours, bank holiday’s , weekends, staff cover, ability to do on call support, go away with residents on holidays and short breaks. Please note that if on rota you may have to work Christmas and New Year.

Main Purpose of the job.
Working in collaboration and under the direction of the care home manager as part of a integrated team. To contribute to continuous improvement and quality control monitoring in the effective delivery of a high quality childcare service provision.
As a team leader post holder you will assist in all aspects of managing this service which offers residential care and support for children and young people displaying forms of challenging behavior. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of your shift, the post holder will deliver excellent standards of care, demonstrating a sound knowledge of the national minimal standards ( Risca Regulations) and ensure that high standards are maintained and exceeded at all times. As a senior member of the team you will be working closely with residential support /care workers to develop their knowledge and skills, building a strong positive work ethic and engaging environment within the home.
The ability to work effectively with young people, families and external agencies are vital to your role as being able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of all relevant legislation and best practice in relationship to residential care.
