At Step Forward Support Services, we are looking for a dedicated and experienced Deputy Home Manager to support the day-to-day running of our 4-bed residential care home in Handsworth Wood. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about delivering outstanding, person-centred care and supporting adults with complex needs to achieve the best possible outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will have current experience either as a Deputy Manager or Senior Support Worker within learning disability or mental health settings, including complex behaviours and forensic support. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, along with up to date experience working with vulnerable adults with complex needs.
Typical responsibilities
- Support with the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring a safe, caring, and high-quality service.
- Improve the lives of people who use our services through person-centred care, empowerment, and meaningful engagement.
- Regularly review and update care plans, ensuring they reflect service users’ current needs and preferences.
- Supervise, and mentor staff, including shadowing new team members, delivering induction training, and signing off competencies.
- Support with, and facilitate staff supervision sessions, to provide guidance, support, and performance feedback, ensuring continuous professional development and adherence to service standards.
- Assist with the completion of rotas for the staff team, ensuring adequate staffing levels and skill mix to meet the needs of the services.
- Attend review meetings and liaise with families and professionals in the absence of the Home Manager, representing the service confidently.
- Provide clear and timely service updates to support effective communication and informed decision-making.
- Promote independence and wellbeing for residents through encouragement, support, and opportunity.
- Assist with the recruitment and training of new and existing staff team, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities while fostering a culture of continuous development and learning.
What we are looking for
- 2 year, proven work experience in a residential or supporting living environment with adults with complex needs/learning difficulties
- Supervisory experience (advantageous)
- Passionate about delivering and developing high standards of person-centred care, independence and self - advocacy.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality requirements and handling sensitive information.
- Understanding of behaviours that may challenge care delivery.
Pay: £27,000.00-£28,500.00 per year
