Our Warehouse team plays a vital role in ensuring our customers receive accurate, high-quality deliveries every day, and we are looking for a reliable and proactive Evening Shift Picker to join our growing team
The Role
Food Republic is looking for a capable and enthusiastic Warehouse Operative (Evening Shift Picker) to join our warehouse operation based in Battersea.
This role is focused on the accurate picking, checking, packing and loading of customer orders ready for same & next-day delivery across London and the South East. Working as part of our Evening Shift team, you will help ensure our customers receive the right products, in excellent condition and on time.
The successful candidate will work closely with fellow Warehouse Operatives, Shift Supervisors and Managers to maintain high standards of productivity, food safety and customer service while supporting the smooth running of the evening warehouse operation.
The standard working hours / shifts for this role are
2:00pm – 10:00pm
5 shifts per week
Sunday to Friday operation
- Every Saturday off
- One additional weekday off each week (rota basis)
- Overtime opportunities available during busy periods
Full training on Food Republic systems, processes, Health & Safety procedures, and BRC requirements will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Warehouse Operative include, but are not limited to:
- Picking, packing, and preparing customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Checking picked orders to ensure accuracy before dispatch.
- Basic invoice and delivery note processing.
- Loading delivery vehicles accurately to meet scheduled departure times.
- Supporting stock replenishment throughout the warehouse during the shift.
- Loading and unloading chilled and ambient goods from delivery vehicles and lorries
- Operating all machinery safely and efficiently
- Moving stock to the correct warehouse locations manually or using mechanical handling equipment
- Ensuring stock accuracy and reporting damaged, faulty, or missing goods
- Managing products with varying shelf lives and temperature requirements
- Investigating and resolving stock variances before the end of the shift
- Maintaining warehouse cleanliness and organisation standards
- Communicating effectively with suppliers, drivers, and internal departments
- Ensuring all tasks are completed in line with BRC, Health & Safety, and company procedures
- Following instructions and completing tasks set by Shift Supervisors and Warehouse Management
- Assisting with any other warehouse duties as requiredThe Person
Essential Skills & Experience
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
- Previous warehouse experience
- Flexible attitude with the ability to support different warehouse shifts when required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physically fit and capable of lifting moderate to heavy goods
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to changing operational demands
- Good understanding of spoken and written English
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a food distribution or FMCG warehouse environment
- Experience working with chilled and ambient products
- Valid Reach Truck / Counterbalance licence
- GCSE Maths and English (A*–C or equivalent)
