Sales Team Member – Photography Background
Location: Kiveton Park, Rotherham
Employment: Full-time
Working Pattern: 5 days per week, including Saturdays
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm | Saturday, 9:30am–3:00pm
Days Off: One weekday off per week
Sunday: Closed
About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable person to join our sales team at Rother Valley Optics.
Ideally, you will come from a photographic background and have previous experience working with photography equipment, either within a retail environment or through professional or extensive personal experience. A genuine interest in photography is important, as you will be dealing with customers who often require knowledgeable advice when choosing equipment.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are necessarily the same. Alongside speaking with customers and taking telephone orders, you will also be involved with our website, stock handling and order fulfilment.
Key Responsibilities
- Dealing with customers both in person and over the telephone
- Providing friendly, knowledgeable advice on photographic and related equipment
- Taking telephone orders and processing customer enquiries
- Assisting customers with product selection and answering technical questions
- Working with and updating our website
- Processing online orders and customer enquiries
- Picking products from stock for customer orders
- Carefully packing and preparing orders for dispatch
- General stock handling and organisation
- Assisting with day-to-day shop and office duties
- Maintaining a clean, organised and professional working environment
- Working as part of a small, friendly team to provide excellent customer service
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about photography
- Ideally experienced in photographic retail or the photography industry
- Friendly, approachable and confident when dealing with customers
- Comfortable speaking to customers both face-to-face and over the telephone
- Computer literate and confident using websites and basic computer systems
- Organised, reliable and able to work independently
- A good team player with a positive attitude
- Comfortable with the practical side of the role, including picking and packing orders
- Keen to learn and develop their knowledge of our products
Previous experience in a photographic retail environment would be a strong advantage.
Important
The ability and willingness to work Saturdays is essential for this position.
The successful candidate will work five days per week, with one weekday off, and will be required to work every Saturday as part of their normal working pattern. We are closed on Sundays.
The Location
This is an office and shop-based position at our premises in Kiveton Park, Rotherham. This is not a remote or hybrid role.
