JOB TITLE: Barista Supervisor – part time
DEPARTMENT: CF10 Retail
PURPOSE OF JOB: To run the shifts and ensure the smooth operation of the coffee shop and ensure the consistent delivery of an independent and diverse coffee offering.
Ensure the high standards of front and back of house cleanliness and that all relevant paperwork is completed daily.
Lead the team in a passionate and committed manner.
Work alongside the manager to support academic teaching to instruct and liaise with students to ensure they have a full and rounded understanding of Hospitality in the workplace.
HOURS OF WORK: 20 hours per week across 5 days (the business does run at various hours Monday to Friday) Shifts include mornings and evenings.
Additional hours may be required in accordance with the demands of the business including the weekends

ACCOUNTABILITY
Responsibility for the day to day running of the college coffee shop alongside the coffee shop manager, they must be able to lead and motivate a diverse team in the delivery of a vibrant independent coffee offering for students, staff and visitors to the College campus.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
· Supervision of the Coffee Shop team, ensuring that the Coffee Shop is ready for service each day.
· Work alongside the manager to lead and develop a team to ensure that the highest quality service and product is delivered daily.
· Help support the management with ideas to develop the coffee shops menu and offering to enhance its reputation within the community.
· To help support with academic departments to ensure learners have a real-world experience in a thriving work experience.
· To ensure the coffee shop facilities are kept to an extremely high standard to maintain a 5-star EHO food rating.
· Ordering and storage of food, beverages and cleaning products liaising with the Manager in respect of any additional stock required
· Ensure all allergen information is accurately recorded and the Coffee Shop team are fully conversant with allergens and the content of each product being served.
· Ensure the Coffee Shop is adequately staffed each day.
· Ensure Coffee Shop paperwork is completed and undertake management checks thereof.
· Be responsible for the daily cash and banking associated with the Coffee Shop
· Ensure the team comply with the Health & Safety standards.
OTHER DUTIES
· Report for duty punctually for every shift, in complete clean uniform to undertake all necessary tasks to ensure the Coffee Shop runs smoothly throughout the day.
· Willingness to attend appropriate training sessions including food hygiene and allergy awareness. Barista training is ongoing, including the development of new team members and refresher training as products develop.
· Prepare and serve a limited, but high-quality food offering to the customer.
· Working within the requirements of relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations, ensure that a high standard of hygiene, safety, and cleanliness of the premises and equipment is maintained by following cleaning schedules on shift and in set up and clean down.
· Be responsible for the smooth running of the Coffee Shop during events which may include catering and hosting late night opening.
· Work safely around the kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues to the Coffee Shop Manager
· To be responsible for daily security of unlocking and locking of the Coffee Shop, liaising with the Estates team for out of hours security of the department when necessary
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
· The postholder would hold a food safety level 2 qualification or higher or willingness to be trained.
· Barista trained or willingness to be trained.
· The postholder would have experience of supervisory roles in a branded or high-volume coffee shop.
· An understanding/experience of managing and working towards budgets.
· Good organizational skills with a proven record of reliability/good timekeeping with a hands on, flexible approach
· The ability to carry out tasks quickly and be able to follow procedures and instruction.
· Works to continually improve guest satisfaction and supervises other members of the team and monitors the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout shift.
· The ability to develop strong partnerships with senior management and develop clear lines of communication with all departments in the college.
· Experience of working effectively in a team and the ability to work on your own.
· Well presented
· The ability to undertake manual aspects of the role.
· The successful applicant will require an Enhanced DBS check before commencing employment and provide two references
· A flexible attitude is required as at times of peak workflow or main events, there may be a requirement for some support during the evenings and weekends. Where this is necessary, time off in lieu will be given, the timings of which will be agreed with your line manager.
