Job Title: Self-Employed Personal Assistant (PA) – Complex Care & Social Support
Location: High Wycombe
Job Type: Part-time, Self-Employed (Contract)
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (9:00 am – 12:30 pm) – 10.5 hours per week
About the Role: Calibre Quality Care is an introductory care agency dedicated to matching clients with outstanding, self-employed Personal Assistants. We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate PA to support a gentleman in his 40s living in High Wycombe.
Because we operate an introductory model, you will not be an employee of our agency; instead, we act as a matchmaker to help you build a direct, rewarding relationship with the client. While this referral starts at 10.5 hours per week, there is excellent potential to take on additional clients through our network to build your roster if you wish.
About the Client: The client is a wheelchair user with complex health and care needs, including Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, a learning disability, Crohn's disease, and he is partially sighted. He is an active individual who enjoys getting out into the community. His interests include visiting libraries, exploring free museums, browsing shops, and visiting transport hubs to watch planes, trains, cars, boats, and trucks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Social & Community Support: Drive and accompany the client to his preferred hobbies, outings, and local shops.
- Mobility Assistance: Encourage and support safe walking for short periods (no more than 5–10 minutes), providing support specifically from his left-hand side.
- Personal Care: Provide personal care as required. You must be comfortable assisting with toileting, particularly during a Crohn's disease flare-up.
- Medication Supervision: Supervise the taking of medication, accurately noting the time. You must be vigilant in monitoring for any dysphagia symptoms (such as coughing) during medication administration.
- Domestic & Shopping: Assist with light domestic duties and occasionally support with grocery shopping, particularly when purchasing items.
Requirements & "The Calibre Standard": To ensure the highest quality of person-centered support, we require all PAs to meet the strict Calibre standard.
- Driving: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential for this role to facilitate the client's hobbies and community outings.
- Employment Status: You must be registered (or willing to register) as self-employed.
- Attributes: Highly observant, patient, and capable of managing complex health needs with dignity and respect.
Benefits of this Role:
- Autonomy: Work as an independent professional with the freedom of a self-employed role.
- Direct Relationships: Provide true person-centered care by working directly for the client.
- Growth Potential: Access to our wider introductory network across Buckinghamshire (including High Wycombe, Aylesbury, and surrounding villages) to take on more clients and grow client base.
