The Shrubbery Rest Home is looking for a passionate bank cook for a busy residential home. There is 19.5 hour contract . Experience is desired but not essential as long as you can cook! Shifts are 7 hours long with a half an hour unpaid break.

Main function of the job
To provide catering services in accordance with current best practice.
To supervise the catering services within The Home in accordance with agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations, and in line with accepted best practice, and within the financial plans agreed from time-to-time
To maintain catering skills at a current level, and undertake such training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain that currency of practice.
Management of Daily Tasks
1. To ensure that the kitchen complies with the safe catering systems.
2. To ensure that all diets of residents are catered for.
3. To ensure that a nutritional menu is in place and reviewed regularly.
4. To ensure service users are informed daily of the menu and it is displayed.
5. To ensure that service users are given a choice of menu.
6. To ensure that the kitchen is kept fully stocked.
7. To ensure that all foods is in date.
8. To ensure that all food is dated when opened.
9. To check fridge/freezers temperatures and to record daily.
10. To check and record hot food temperatures before serving.
11. To comply with the homes policy on personal hygiene.
12. To ensure that the cleaning schedule is implemented.
13. To comply with Coshh regulations.
14. To be aware of all Health and Safety policies affecting the kitchen.
15. Attend staff training/supervisions as required.
16. To ensure that they are aware of the homes fire policy and all fire points and exits.
17. Comply with the homes manual handling policy.
Management of Catering Services
1. Assist the development of the philosophy, goals and objectives for the catering practice.
2. Assist the assessment of the effectiveness of catering implementation and delivery.
3. Implement action to meet and maintain catering standards.
4. Ensure that Service Users’ rights are protected.
5. Encourage a model of self-care and Service User rehabilitation.
6. Evaluate standards of catering competence.
