We are a growing and well‑respected construction company dedicated to delivering high‑quality homes and excellent service. As our business continues to expand, we are looking for a proactive and detail‑focused Accounts Assistant to join our finance team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy, and thrives in a busy, fast‑paced environment. Full‑time hours are preferred, but part‑time will be considered for the right candidate.
The Role
As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function and ensuring the smooth running of day‑to‑day accounting activities. You will work closely with colleagues across construction, site, and office teams, so strong communication and organisational skills are essential.
You will need to be confident working independently, using initiative, and managing your workload effectively while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing purchase invoices, delivery notes, and supplier statements
- Assisting with sales invoicing and credit control
- Maintaining accurate financial records and digital filing systems
- Supporting month‑end tasks including reconciliations and reporting
- Assisting with subcontractor onboarding, compliance checks, and payment processing
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve queries
- Monitoring inboxes, responding to finance‑related enquiries, and escalating issues where needed
- Providing general administrative support to the finance team
Skills & Experience
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
- Confident using initiative and applying practical problem‑solving
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Previous accounts or administrative experience is beneficial but not essential
- Experience in construction or subcontractor finance is an advantage
