Providing advice and guidance on clinical coding and explaining complex coding requirements clearly to clinical and administrative colleagues.
Keeping up to date with changes to ICD-10, OPCS-4, national standards and best practice.
Supporting the development and review of clinical coding policies, guidelines and processes.
Identifying opportunities to improve coding processes and maximise income through accurate coding.
Supporting business continuity and process improvement projects.
Delivering training to colleagues to increase understanding of the importance of accurate clinical documentation and coding.
Working collaboratively with our IT team to ensure coding systems and classification tables remain accurate and up to date.
We are looking for someone who is accurate, organised and confident working with complex clinical information, with the ability to work independently while building effective relationships across the organisation.
You will have:
Knowledge and understanding of ICD-10 and OPCS-4.
Good knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
Experience of working within a clinical environment.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
A flexible and proactive approach to your work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The confidence to communicate coding requirements and complex information to a range of audiences.
The ability to use your own initiative and identify opportunities for improvement.
A high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
It would be advantageous if you also have:
Previous clinical coding experience.
Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
Experience delivering presentations or training.
Successful completion of the Clinical Coding Foundation Course (CCSC), with a refresher course where this was completed more than three years ago.
At Horder Healthcare, accurate clinical information is more than just data — it supports high-quality patient care, effective clinical governance and the delivery of our services.
You will be joining a collaborative organisation where your expertise will make a real difference. This is an opportunity to develop and maintain our clinical coding practice, work with a wide range of clinical and corporate colleagues, and help us continually improve the quality of the information that underpins our services.
If you are an experienced Clinical Coder who takes pride in getting the detail right, enjoys working collaboratively and wants to make a real contribution to a healthcare organisation, we would love to hear from you.
