Overview
We are seeking an experienced and organised Curtain and Soft Furnishings Workroom Manager to oversee the daily operations of our bespoke workroom specialising in curtains, blinds, and soft furnishings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in curtain workroom management and sewing, with a keen eye for detail and quality. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a creative team dedicated to delivering high-quality customised products for our clients.
Duties
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the workroom, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of projects
- Supervise a team of seamstresses and workroom staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed
- Oversee the organisation and maintenance of the workroom, including stock control of fabrics, materials, and tools
- Coordinate with clients and suppliers to ensure specifications are met and orders are fulfilled accurately
- Ensure all sewing and finishing processes adhere to quality standards and safety regulations
- Implement procedures to optimise productivity whilst maintaining high standards of craftsmanship
- Monitor project timelines and communicate progress regularly to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Skills
- Proven experience in workroom management or similar logistics roles within a soft furnishings or textile environment
- Strong sewing skills with practical knowledge of various techniques used in curtain making and soft furnishings
- Excellent organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Leadership qualities with experience supervising a team in a fast-paced setting
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and team members
- Attention to detail to ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained throughout all stages of production
- Ability to prioritise tasks efficiently whilst maintaining flexibility in response to changing demands
