Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Kitchen Chef to lead our culinary team. Having recently taken over The Dorset Arms, we are looking to build a strong and passionate staff team, and are seeking a kitchen chef.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, culinary expertise, and a dedication to food safety and quality. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee food production, manage kitchen operations, and inspire a team of culinary professionals in a dynamic hospitality environment. The Kitchen Chef will be responsible for ensuring all dishes meet high standards of presentation and flavour while maintaining efficient kitchen workflows.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient food preparation and service
- Lead and motivate the culinary team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation
- Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards, storage procedures, and allergen controls
- Develop and update menus in collaboration with management, incorporating innovative ideas and seasonal ingredients
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control waste to optimise kitchen efficiency
- Train new staff members on food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and service standards
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely serving of dishes and excellent customer experience
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area in accordance with health regulations
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation
Requirements
- Proven experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and management
