Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity member of staff to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our assisted living and nursing home facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background experience in dementia and Alzheimer's care. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through creative programming and supportive interactions.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Facilitate group activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities align with individual care plans and support residents' overall well-being.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, ensuring that all equipment and materials are suitable for use.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation and gather feedback on activities.
- Document participation levels and outcomes of activities to assess their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
- Provide support to residents during activities, offering assistance as needed while promoting independence.
Experience
- Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred.
- Background in senior care, particularly with dementia and Alzheimer's care, is highly desirable.
- Strong caregiving skills with a passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through engaging activities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to lead activities independently.
