Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Assistant/Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality food production in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in restaurant or hospitality kitchen settings is essential, along with a proactive approach to team management and culinary excellence. Whether you’re fresh out of catering college or are running a small pub kitchen we feel that commitment and passion is more important to us. You’ll be working with our fantastic chef who’ll show you everything we’ll need from you. Living within easy commute distance is extremely preferable which would work for both parties!
Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation and cooking, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards and presentation requirements
- coordinate daily operations to ensure smooth workflow
- Manage food production processes, including portioning, plating, and garnishing
- Oversee food safety protocols, hygiene standards, and cleanliness within the kitchen environment
- Ensure efficient utilisation of ingredients and minimise waste through proper stock control
- Maintain organised workstations and ensure all equipment is functioning correctly
- If the kitchen is not so busy you will be required to help out on the floor and working in other departments like front of house serving coffees, toasted sandwiches and baked goods as well as meals to customers when required, ensuring excellent customer service standards are upheld
Experience
- Proven experience in a culinary or kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Supervising experience is highly desirable, demonstrating leadership capabilities and team management skills
- Strong background in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
- Experience in managing kitchen operations, including stock control and staff supervision
- Familiarity with serving procedures and delivering exceptional customer service
- Previous roles involving culinary responsibilities or restaurant experience will be advantageous for success in this position
