Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum, depending on experience

- Monday to Thursday: 8:30am–5:30pm
- Friday: 8:30am–4:30pm

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Design Surveyor / CAD Designer to join our design team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to begin or develop a career in residential design, surveying and CAD drafting. You will work alongside experienced members of the team and gain practical experience across the design process.
The Role
You will support our design team in producing accurate drawings and delivering residential loft conversion projects from the initial property survey through to the completed design package.
The role combines office-based CAD work with visits to customers’ properties. You will initially attend surveys alongside experienced team members before gradually taking on greater responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop.
This is a varied, hands-on position with the opportunity to build strong technical knowledge and become an established member of our design team.
Responsibilities
- Attend property surveys alongside experienced members of the design team
- Progress towards completing measured surveys independently
- Accurately record existing property dimensions, layouts and construction details
- Take site photographs and ensure all relevant survey information is documented
- Produce existing and proposed plans, elevations and sections using AutoCAD
- Assist with the preparation of planning and Building Regulations drawings
- Upload and organise drawings, photographs and project information within company systems
- Check drawings carefully for accuracy before they are issued
- Complete drawing amendments and revisions throughout the design process
- Respond to drawing queries and support colleagues and customers where appropriate
- Liaise with planning consultants, structural engineers and the construction team as your experience develops
- Provide general administrative and project support to the wider office team when required
Essential Skills and Experience
- Some experience using AutoCAD or a similar CAD package
- Good general IT and computer skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Professional and friendly approach when visiting customers’ properties
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience or qualifications relating to architecture, construction, surveying or residential design
- Knowledge of planning applications or Building Regulations
- Experience producing residential drawings
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite or preparing marketing materials
- Full UK driving licence
Training and development
The successful candidate will receive practical training and support from experienced members of our design team.
As your knowledge develops, you will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility, including completing surveys independently, managing drawing amendments and supporting projects through the wider design process.
