S.H. Goss & Co. Ltd is looking to recruit a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our growing team delivering grounds maintenance and vegetation management services across LB Newham, LB Redbridge, East London, Hertsmere, Stevenage and East Hertfordshire.
The role is primarily focused on professional weed control for local authorities, housing providers and cemetery contracts. However, as part of a busy grounds maintenance team, there will also be opportunities to assist with a range of other vegetation management and grounds maintenance activities as required.

The Role
The majority of your work will involve applying herbicides to control weeds on behalf of local authorities and commercial clients in East London. From time to time, you will also assist with other grounds maintenance operations to support the wider business.
Typical duties include:
- Applying herbicides using pedestrian spraying equipment.
- Following planned treatment routes using digital maps.
- Assisting with general grounds maintenance and vegetation management activities as required.
- Completing daily work records using a smartphone or tablet.
- Carrying out routine vehicle and equipment checks.
- Working safely around pedestrians, traffic and members of the public.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety.
- Able to use a smartphone or tablet.
Desirable
- PA1 & PA6 NPTC spraying certificates.
- Previous grounds maintenance experience.
- Highway or amenity weed control experience.
- Experience working on local authority or commercial contracts.
- Knowledge of common weeds and vegetation management.

Experience:
- Grounds Maintenance: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (required)
- PA1 & PA6 Spraying Licence (preferred)
