Job Summary
We are a well-established, family-orientated nursing home providing high-quality nursing, residential and dementia care. The home is registered for 30 residents and currently operates with 25 bedrooms, allowing us to provide a personalised and resident-focused service.
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to take on the role of Home Manager (Registered Manager – Nurse Qualified) within our nursing home to lead our team and drive excellence in care, governance, staff development and regulatory compliance.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious leader to join a supportive organisation with engaged owners, an experienced Clinical Lead Nurse/Deputy Manager and a committed care team. You will act as the Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the care home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, and maintaining compliance with all CQC requirements. This leadership position requires a compassionate professional with a strong background in nursing, dementia care, and management, committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for residents.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Provide visible and effective leadership across the home.
- Promote a positive culture focused on dignity, respect and person-centred care.
- Lead, motivate and develop the nursing, care and support teams.
- Work closely with the Clinical Lead Nurse/Deputy Manager to maintain clinical excellence.
- Ensure effective staff supervision, appraisals and performance management.
Clinical Governance
- Maintain oversight of clinical standards and resident outcomes.
- Ensure safe medicines management and infection prevention and control practices.
- Monitor incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns and complaints.
- Lead investigations and implement learning from incidents.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.
- Act as the Registered Manager with the CQC.
- Prepare for and lead inspections by regulators and local authorities.
- Ensure robust auditing, governance and quality assurance systems are in place.
- Develop and implement action plans arising from audits and inspections.
Resident Experience
- Ensure residents receive safe, compassionate and person-centred care.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families and healthcare professionals.
- Promote resident choice, independence and quality of life.
- Ensure concerns and complaints are managed effectively and professionally.
Operational Management
- Manage occupancy and admissions processes.
- Ensure safe staffing levels and effective workforce planning.
- Monitor budgets and resources responsibly.
- Work collaboratively with external healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
- Support business development and reputation management within the local community.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with active NMC registration.
- Significant experience in a nursing home or elderly care setting.
- Previous experience as a Home Manager, Registered Manager, Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead.
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations and quality standards.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and clinical governance.
- Ability to manage compliance, quality and operational performance.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience as a CQC Registered Manager.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care
- Experience managing nursing and dementia services.
- Experience achieving Good or Outstanding CQC ratings.
- Budget management experience.
Working Hours, Employment Terms and Benefits
- £45,000–£60,000 salary dependent on experience.

- Full Time position: 37.5 hours
- Normal Working hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm with 1 hour lunch break
- Requirement to work 1 Saturday per month with time off in-lieu

As Home Manager and Registered Manager, you will be expected to demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the service, manage emergencies and support regulatory requirements. This includes being available outside normal working hours when required.
During periods of annual leave, responsibility will be formally handed over to the Clinical Lead Nurse/Deputy Manager.
