Contract: Initial 1-month paid flexible-hours training and probation period, with the intention to move onto a fixed-hours contract after successful completion
Hours: Full-time role after probation, with overtime and call-out hours available

We are now looking to hire one reliable, hardworking and professional Recovery Driver to join our team long term. Full training will be provided, and the successful driver will be assigned their own company 3.5-tonne recovery truck, which may be taken home subject to company agreement and policy.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in recovery, garages, mechanics, dealerships, vehicle transport, vehicle delivery or another automotive-related role who wants to build a long-term career in the recovery industry.
The Role
As a Recovery Driver, you will be responsible for attending breakdowns, accident recovery jobs, motorway recoveries, dealership collections, auction collections and general vehicle transport jobs.
You will be representing Velocity Studios Recovery directly with customers, so we are looking for someone professional, calm under pressure, reliable and confident working independently.
You do not need an HGV licence for this role, as the company vehicle is a 3.5-tonne recovery truck. Company insurance is included for approved company use.
Main Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Attending roadside breakdowns and recovery jobs.
- Recovering vehicles involved in road traffic collisions.
- Carrying out motorway recoveries safely and professionally.
- Transporting vehicles between customers, garages, dealerships, auctions and storage compounds.
- Completing dealership collections and deliveries.
- Using our Proof of Collection and Proof of Delivery system.
- Taking clear vehicle condition photos before collection and after delivery.
- Loading, securing and transporting vehicles safely.
- Following company procedures for digital job completion.
- Communicating professionally with customers and the operations team.
- Providing excellent customer service throughout every job.
- Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks.
- Keeping the recovery truck clean, organised and roadworthy.
- Looking after company equipment.
- Responding promptly when jobs are allocated.
- Following company policies, health and safety procedures and road traffic legislation.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Meet company insurance requirements.
- Have previous experience in vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, garages, mechanics, dealerships, vehicle delivery, vehicle transport or another automotive-related role.
- Be confident driving larger vehicles.
- Be punctual, reliable and trustworthy.
- Have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Be confident working independently.
- Have good problem-solving skills.
- Be physically capable of carrying out vehicle recoveries in different weather conditions.
- Be comfortable using smartphones, navigation apps and digital job systems.
- Be flexible with working hours, including evenings, weekends and overnight call-outs.
- Take pride in keeping vehicles and equipment clean, safe and well looked after.
Training Provided
Full training will be provided, including:
- Safe vehicle loading and unloading.
- Recovery truck operation.
- Recovery equipment operation.
- Vehicle securing procedures.
- Proof of Collection procedures.
- Proof of Delivery procedures.
- Vehicle photography and condition reporting.
- Digital dispatch system training.
- Customer service expectations.
- Company operating procedures.
- Health and safety guidance.
Pay & Contract Structure
This role will begin with an initial 1-month paid flexible-hours training and probation period.
During this period, pay will be between £15.00 and £20.00 per hour, depending on experience, skill level and performance.
Pay will be based on:
- Recovery or automotive experience.
- Driving ability.
- Confidence with loading and securing vehicles.
- Customer service skills.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently.
- Overall performance during training and probation.
After successful completion of the first month, the role is intended to move onto a fixed-hours contract.
Overtime and additional call-out hours will also be available depending on business needs. Overtime will be paid separately and agreed in advance.
