The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated CQC Registered Manager to lead the operational, clinical governance and regulatory management of a private Day Surgery and Clinical Unit on Harley Street.
This is a key leadership appointment with responsibility for ensuring the service operates safely, effectively and in full compliance with CQC regulatory requirements, while maintaining the high standards of clinical care, patient experience and professionalism expected within a premium private healthcare environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with consultants, surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing teams and senior management to oversee the day-to-day operation of the unit and maintain a strong culture of patient safety, clinical excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the CQC Registered Manager for the service and maintain compliance with all applicable CQC regulations and fundamental standards.
- Lead the unit's preparation for CQC inspections, ensuring the service can demonstrate that it is Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.
- Oversee the safe and effective day-to-day operation of the day surgery and clinical facilities.
- Maintain robust systems for clinical governance, quality assurance and risk management.
- Ensure policies, procedures, clinical protocols and operating processes remain current, compliant and embedded in practice.
- Manage clinical audits, quality indicators, incidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns and corrective/preventative actions.
- Ensure appropriate processes are maintained for infection prevention and control, medicines management, patient safety and emergency preparedness.
- Oversee staff compliance, including recruitment checks, professional registrations, mandatory training, competencies and ongoing development.
- Work closely with consultants and the multidisciplinary clinical team to maintain consistently high standards of patient care.
- Monitor patient feedback and complaints and ensure concerns are investigated, documented and resolved appropriately.
- Maintain accurate regulatory records and ensure the unit remains inspection-ready.
- Support the development and implementation of the organisation's quality improvement programme.
- Provide regular governance, compliance and operational reports to senior management.
- Promote a professional, accountable and patient-centred culture throughout the organisation.
About You
We are looking for an established healthcare manager with strong knowledge of the regulatory requirements applicable to independent healthcare and day-surgery environments.
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous experience as a CQC Registered Manager, or substantial experience in a senior healthcare management position with direct CQC responsibilities.
- Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations, fundamental standards and inspection frameworks.
- Experience within day surgery, theatres, private hospitals, outpatient services or independent clinical settings.
- Demonstrable experience in clinical governance, risk management, auditing and quality improvement.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, infection prevention and control, medicines management and incident management.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary clinical teams and working with consultants.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to establish effective systems and ensure they are consistently followed in clinical practice.
- A proactive approach to regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
A clinical background, such as nursing or another registered healthcare profession, would be advantageous, although candidates with substantial relevant healthcare management and regulatory experience will also be considered.
