Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our team for a 28 hour position covering day and night shifts. The role involves providing high-quality care within a care home environment, supporting residents with their daily needs, and ensuring their comfort and wellbeing. The ideal candidate will possess supervisory experience, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for senior care. This position offers an opportunity to lead by example and make a meaningful difference in residents' lives.
Principal Responsibilities
1) To carry out all duties in such a manner as to enhance the resident’s quality of life, ensuring their privacy, dignity, independence, rights, choice and fulfilment are not devalued.
2) Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and the toilet.
3) Help residents with mobility problems and other physical, including incontinence, help in use of care aids and personal equipment.
4) Care for residents during illness and any requiring bed care.
5) Help care for residents who are on end-of-life care.
6) Liaise with GP’s, district nurses and other agencies.
7) Be responsible for administration of medication, ordering, receiving and documenting any details with medicines.
8) Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in such activities as reading, writing, hobbies and reactions.
9) To ensure checks and visits are made to each resident throughout the day, evening and night unless stated by the resident by meeting their personal preferences. This will be documented in their plan of care. You should be able to identify if a resident requires shorter checks and evidence.
10) In the time available between attending to residents undertake domestic duties primarily in the fields of laundry, ironing, food preparation, table laying and dusting, cleaning areas in the home.
11) Make and change beds, tidy rooms and empty commodes.
12) Answer emergency bells, the door, the telephone and greet visitors.
13) Read and write reports, take part in staff and residents meetings and in training activities as directed.
14) Completing both electronic and handwritten documentation accurately, promptly, and in accordance with organisational policies. This includes learning to use person-centred software systems effectively and ensuring that all records are maintained to a consistently high standard, reflecting safe, transparent, and person-centred care.
15) Care staff are provided access to the WhatsApp group, and it is the responsibility of each employee to keep up to date with the messages posted.
16) To liaise with the domestic staff with regards to rotas, training new procedures, time sheets etc and supervision of their work.
17) To actively take part in residents’ meetings.
18) To attend training courses and staff meetings as requested by the manager.
19) Such other duties as may be deemed necessary by the manager, to ensure the smooth running of the home.

21) All staff, no matter of position, have a duty to ensure people are kept safe and free from danger. Where any concerns arise, they are to report any concerns to senior staff or management.
Pay: £12.73-£13.01 per hour
