About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Phlebotomist to join our friendly clinical team. You will provide a safe, efficient, and professional blood collection service while supporting clinicians through the accurate collection, handling, and recording of specimens.
Working across all practice sites, you will ensure patients receive a positive experience while maintaining high standards of patient care, confidentiality, and infection prevention and control.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform safe and competent venepuncture for adults and children.
- Prioritise daily workload and manage blood sample requests efficiently.
- Accurately label, record, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Maintain patient records using EMIS or other clinical systems.
- Reassure patients and provide a caring, professional service.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including safe disposal of clinical waste.
- Monitor phlebotomy stock, support sample collections, and complete fridge temperature checks.
- Respond to patient queries and work collaboratively with the wider practice team.
- Participate in training, audits, and team meetings, reporting incidents in line with practice policies.
About You
Essential:
- Recognised Phlebotomy qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
- Experience in venepuncture and blood collection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and good IT skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A caring, professional, and patient-focused approach.
Desirable:
- Experience using EMIS Web.
- Previous GP practice experience.
- Basic First Aid knowledge
