Service Manager / Workshop Manager

Due to continued growth, MAX Automotive Group Ltd is looking for an experienced Service Manager / Workshop Manager to take control of our busy workshop operation.
We are a fast-growing independent, multi-division business working across cars, vans, HGVs, trailers, EV & hybrid, plant and powered access.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running and commercial performance of the workshop, including:
- Managing and loading technicians effectively
- Controlling jobs from booking through to completion
- Monitoring technician productivity and efficiency
- Job costing and profitability
- Preparing estimates and quotations
- Final job costing and invoicing
- Reviewing labour times and parts costs
- Managing WIP and ensuring completed jobs are invoiced promptly
- Customer and fleet authorisations
- Parts ordering and supplier coordination
- Customer updates and vehicle handovers
- Quality control and reducing comebacks
- Managing breakdowns and priority fleet work
- Supporting and managing service advisors and technicians
- Maintaining workshop H&S and compliance
- Minimising customer vehicle downtime
Fleet Systems & Administration
The successful candidate should be confident using workshop and fleet management systems. Experience with systems such as the following would be highly beneficial:
- 1link / Epyx
- R2C
- Garage management systems
- Fleet maintenance portals
- Digital job cards and inspections
- Manufacturer labour-time systems
- Parts catalogues and ordering systems
You will be expected to ensure purchase orders, authorisations, job costs, technician time, parts and invoices are accurate before jobs are closed.
What We're Looking For
Previous Service Manager, Workshop Manager or senior workshop/service advisor experience is essential.
You should be:
- Technically knowledgeable
- Commercially aware
- Strong at costing and invoicing
- Highly organised
- Confident managing technicians and service advisors
- Comfortable dealing with fleet customers
- Focused on productivity and workshop profitability
- Strong on quality and first-time fixes
- Able to take ownership and keep jobs moving
Experience within fleet maintenance, commercial vehicles, HGVs or a busy independent workshop would be a major advantage.
