About the Role
This post holder will operate across all QMUL campuses, covering properties that are directly owned, leased to tenants, and embedded spaces. The role involves working with senior colleagues across the University, as well as engaging with internal and external specialists, trade unions, employee representatives, and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) to develop and maintain Estates policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and best practice.
About You
The Engineering Assurance Manager will act as the lead competent person, supporting the Directorate in meeting health and safety legislation and internal policies. Working closely with the Engineering Senior Management Team (SMT), the role will help embed audit, assurance, and risk management as key drivers of both strategic direction and day-to-day operations, with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
In collaboration with SMT colleagues, the post holder will contribute to delivering activities aligned to QMUL’s strategy, vision, and values, while supporting and challenging operational and capital project teams to ensure collective delivery. The role includes developing and maintaining quality assurance processes, supporting risk-based reviews, and enhancing the Directorate’s risk management framework.
The post holder will also ensure staff are trained and competent, maintain strong links with the Health and Safety Directorate, and provide assurance reporting to SMT and risk owners.
