Overview
E.W. Taylor, a well-established logistics company with offices in Sittingbourne, Kent is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented freight forwarder and customs clearance clerk to join our expanding team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing international shipments and and ensuring seamless customs compliance.

Responsibilities
- Managing shipments across UK/Europe/ROW and providing customers with end to end logistics solutions.
- Prepare and process customs documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure seamless clearance procedures and timely delivery of goods are met.
- Accurate data entry through IT systems to maintain precise records of shipments, customs declarations and compliance documentation.
- Negotiate rates and terms with carriers, freight brokers, and other partners to secure optimal logistics solutions for customers.
- Develop customer relationships to generate new business opportunities and supply chain efficiency improvements.
Skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in freight forwarding and customs clearance.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, including freight forwarding, customs clearance and 3PL operations.
- Fully conversant with all aspects of import/export documentation and procedures, submitting declarations to CDS and customs compliance.
- Experience with Descartes/E-Customs is desirable.
- Experience in logistics planning, data entry accuracy, and handling complex documentation workflows.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favourable rates with carriers and service providers.
- Experience with port health requirements and associated documentation.
- Strong IT literacy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites particularly Excel.
- Self-Motivated with good attention to detail and strong organisational and multi-tasking abilities
- Effective communication skills for liaising with customs authorities, carriers, clients, and internal teams.
