Newport City Council is looking for a qualified and motivated social worker to join our Adult Safeguarding Team as a Senior Practitioner.
This key role focuses on coordinating and overseeing safeguarding concerns involving adults at risk. You will lead on safeguarding activity from referral through to outcome, ensuring responses are timely, proportionate and in line with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
You will coordinate safeguarding enquiries, chair strategy discussions and multi-agency meetings, and provide advice, guidance and oversight across Adult Services and partner agencies. The role also includes managing concerns relating to People in Positions of Trust (PIPOT) and supporting the ongoing development of safeguarding practice.
What you will do:
Coordinate and oversee safeguarding enquiries- Respond to and triage safeguarding concerns, including Duty to Report referrals
- Chair strategy discussions and multi-agency meetings
- Manage concerns relating to People in Positions of Trust (PIPOT)
- Provide safeguarding advice, guidance and oversight to colleagues and partners
- Support practice development within the team
What we’re looking for:
You will be a qualified social worker registered with Social Care Wales, with experience of safeguarding practice. You will be able to manage complex work, make clear decisions and work effectively with partners.
