The HR & Payroll Co ordinator role is wide ranging, supporting both HR and Payroll activities across the organisation. The role will act as a key point of contact for HR and payroll queries, provide comprehensive administrative support, maintain HR and payroll systems, and support recruitment and employee lifecycle processes.
The role will ensure accurate, timely and confidential processing of employee data, supporting both HR operations and payroll delivery in line with company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The main activities carried out by the HR & Payroll Co‑ordinator include, but are not limited to:
Recruitment & Onboarding
· Support recruitment and selection activities across the business, from drafting advertisements to coordinating shortlisting and arranging interviews.
· Coordinate onboarding processes, including preparing contracts, issuing new starter documentation and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience.
Administration
· Provide HR and Payroll administrative support across the employee lifecycle, including contracts, variations to terms, leaver processing and validate payroll‑related changes,
· Act as a key liaison between HR and Payroll to ensure all employee data changes are communicated accurately and within relevant deadlines.
· Maintainand update systems, ensuring accuracy, data integrity and GDPR compliance.
· Provide ER support as required, including note‑taking at formal meetings.
· Support HR and Payroll projects and business as usual activities as required
· Maintain a working knowledge of HR and Payroll policies and procedures to provide accurate advice and guidance to employees and managers, escalating where appropriate.
Occupational Health & Wellbeing
· Support Occupational Health processes, including arranging appointments, issuing letters and sharing reports with managers.
· Promote workplace health, safety and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring noticeboards are up to date with EAP and Mental Health First Aid information.
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interpret HR and Payroll matters and present them clearly in both written and verbal formats.

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when handling employee data and payroll information.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and HR/Payroll systems.

- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Training and Experience
- Previous experience in HR administration with exposure to payroll processes (essential).
- Experience managing high‑volume administration and working with HR and/or payroll systems.
- Understanding of basic payroll processes, data validation and compliance requirements is desirable.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
