Overview
We are seeking a proactive Kitchen Assistant to join our independent bakery and coffee shop. This role focuses on supporting daily kitchen operations and ensuring high standards of quality and organisation. The successful candidate will be proactive, reliable, and passionate about food safety and customer service.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation including basic ingredient prep and assembly
- Support the kitchen team in maintaining cleanliness and organisation of work surfaces, utensils, and equipment
- Help with basic cooking tasks under supervision, ensuring timely delivery of meals
- Support bakery production through measuring, portioning, and preparing items for baking
- Ensure food safety standards are adhered to at all times during food handling and storage
- Serve food to customers or staff in a courteous and professional manner
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory checks to ensure freshness and minimise waste
- Maintain kitchen organisation including stock rotation and labelling
- Ensure hygiene standards by keeping work areas clean and compliant
Requirements
- Previous experience in a catering, restaurant, or kitchen environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling
- Basic cooking skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Friendly attitude with excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Willingness to learn new skills and contribute positively to the team
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting tasks as required

Working Hours Flexible and can be arranged to suit the successful candidate
Pay: £12.71-£14.50 per hour
