Pecan Deluxe Candy (Europe) Company Ltd is a wholesale confectionery and bakery Company supplying hundreds of businesses worldwide. We are a small family-owned Company, passionate about providing bespoke tailor-made products and we are proud that our clients include numerous well-known ice cream brands. Our range of products include cookie dough, moulded chocolate, fudge, honeycomb, sauces, caramelised nuts, brownies and sponge cake pieces.
At the start of this creative journey, work begins with our Development team who receive briefs from our customers. It is their role to bring ideas to life and through rigorous testing stages in our small development kitchen, we go on to create a product that that is then viable to be made in our factory.
This is a great opportunity to work as a Development Kitchen Assistant within the department. As part of a small team, you will day to day be involved in:
- Ensuring all machines and work surfaces are clean and set up to produce the required samples.
- Producing kitchen samples in line with recipes and in a timely manner.
- Ensuring raw materials are handled and prepared following the correct procedures, ensuring at all times stock is managed on a first in first out (FIFO) principle and use before dates are followed.
- Supporting in the stock control of raw materials & ingredients, requesting and on occasion, collecting these from our factory site when required.
- Ensuring machines are set at correct settings for the product to be manufactured and all guards and safety measures are used and working correctly.
- Ensuring the samples preparation area and storerooms are always kept in clean and tidy order, ensuring they are ready for audit at any time along with cleaning of all utensils and equipment, ensuring safe and adequate storage.
- Carrying out daily and weekly deep cleaning tasks, in line with requirements and completion of associated paperwork.
- Ensuring all samples are created in a hygienic manner and good housekeeping is practised to minimise foreign matter and waste.
- Supporting in the sample despatch process, recording relevant data and relaying delivery information to customers and internal colleagues as required.
- Liaising and communicating with the wider team to ensure awareness of the progress of customer samples is shared.
- Co-ordinating the production and collation of product samples and sometimes showing them in application (such as ice cream or bakery products) for trade shows and exhibits, customer visits and innovation showcasing.
We are looking to recruit someone who has previous experience in a kitchen, food production or cleaning environment.
You should have a keen interest in food trends, ingredients and innovation. You should be able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
There are manual handling elements to this role as some of the cleaning tasks require equipment to be moved and raw ingredients will need to be lifted and on occasion, brought up from the factory. A driving licence to use the Company van would be advantageous, but is not essential.
The development kitchen is within Lincoln House Head Office on the Sherburn in Elmet industrial estate - LS25 6PJ (not within the factory) so the environment is different to working in a commercial kitchen. 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday working 7.00am to 3.30pm with ½ lunch.
