About the Role
At KienBao Engineering and Commercial Services, we support industrial and commercial operations through reliable engineering, planned maintenance and practical continuous improvement.
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineering Manager to join our Paisley team. You will lead the maintenance function, coordinate engineering resources and ensure that equipment, facilities and critical systems remain safe, reliable and available for day-to-day operations.
This role is suited to an engineering leader who combines strong technical knowledge with people management, maintenance planning and a clear understanding of how equipment reliability affects productivity, cost and service performance.
Why Work With Us?
Engineering ownership: You will have responsibility for the maintenance strategy, engineering priorities and reliability of key operational assets.
Leadership opportunity: You will guide engineers, technicians and contractors while helping develop a strong maintenance culture across the operation.
Continuous improvement: We encourage practical changes that reduce downtime, improve asset life and make maintenance more efficient.
Cross-functional exposure: You will work closely with operations, production, quality, procurement, health and safety and senior management.
Professional development: The role provides broad exposure to reliability engineering, asset management, maintenance systems and capital improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Strategy: Develop and maintain preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes for equipment and facilities.
Team Leadership: Manage engineers and technicians, allocate workloads and ensure maintenance priorities are clearly understood.
Asset Reliability: Monitor equipment performance and implement actions to improve availability, reliability and operational efficiency.
Breakdown Management: Coordinate responses to equipment failures and ensure critical issues are investigated and resolved effectively.
Preventive Maintenance: Ensure planned maintenance schedules are completed on time and adjusted according to equipment performance and operational needs.
Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into recurring breakdowns and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures.
Maintenance Planning: Coordinate labour, contractors, spare parts and planned shutdown activities with operational teams.
Budget Management: Manage maintenance expenditure, track costs and support annual budgeting for repairs, spares and engineering improvements.
Contractor Management: Select, coordinate and monitor external engineering contractors, ensuring work meets quality and safety expectations.
Performance Reporting: Monitor KPIs such as equipment availability, planned maintenance compliance, MTBF, MTTR, downtime and maintenance cost.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Ideally 6–10 years of experience in maintenance engineering, manufacturing, industrial operations or facilities engineering, including experience leading technical teams.
Engineering Background: Strong mechanical, electrical, electromechanical or multi-skilled maintenance knowledge.
Leadership: Proven ability to supervise engineers and technicians, establish priorities and maintain performance standards.
Maintenance Planning: Experience developing preventive maintenance schedules and coordinating planned shutdowns or major engineering work.
Reliability: Understanding of reliability principles, failure analysis and techniques for reducing unplanned downtime.
Commercial Awareness: Ability to balance reliability, maintenance costs, production requirements and long-term asset performance.
Problem Solving: Strong fault-finding and analytical skills with the ability to make practical decisions during operational disruption.
Communication: Able to work effectively with technical teams, operational managers, contractors and senior stakeholders.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial services, engineering or process environments.
- Knowledge of CMMS or computerised maintenance management systems.
- Experience with SAP PM or similar asset-management platforms.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Experience with vibration analysis, thermography or condition monitoring.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM or Six Sigma principles.
- Experience managing engineering budgets and maintenance contracts.
- Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER and relevant UK health and safety requirements.
- Experience delivering equipment upgrades or capital engineering projects.
You do not need to meet every desirable requirement. If you have strong maintenance leadership experience and a track record of improving equipment reliability, we would be interested in hearing from you.
What We Value
We are looking for someone who is technically credible, organised and comfortable taking ownership of engineering performance.
We particularly value managers who can move beyond reactive maintenance, identify recurring causes of downtime and build structured maintenance processes that improve reliability over the long term.
You should also be able to support your team during challenging breakdowns while maintaining clear communication with operations and ensuring safety remains the priority.
Application
If you have experience leading maintenance teams in manufacturing, engineering, industrial services or a similar environment and are looking for a new opportunity in Paisley, we encourage you to apply.
Please submit an up-to-date CV highlighting the engineering teams you have managed, the types of equipment or facilities under your responsibility, maintenance systems you have used and any measurable improvements in reliability, downtime or maintenance cost.
Pay: £5,500.00-£6,000.00 per month
