ROLE SUMMARY
As a Technical Ecology Sales Advisor, you will be one of Wildcare's ecology specialists, providing expert product recommendations and technical guidance to customers while supporting sales growth across our expanding customer base.
You will work closely with construction companies, ecological consultancies, developers, and contractors to understand project requirements, interpret ecological recommendations and site plans, and recommend suitable products and solutions.
This role combines technical advisory, account management, sales support, and market research responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both ecology and commercial engagement.
Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00 (1-hour lunch break)
Working from home available (1-day a week)
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop relationships with construction companies, developers, ecological consultancies, and contractors.
- Conduct customer site visits during quieter trading periods, building relationships, providing ecological and technical support, and identifying new business opportunities.
- Provide expert advice on ecological mitigation and habitat enhancement products.
- Review ecological reports, site plans, licence requirements, and mitigation recommendations.
- Recommend appropriate products and solutions based on project requirements.
- Act as Wildcare's internal ecology knowledge hub, providing support to colleagues and customers.
- Develop product knowledge resources and technical guidance materials for the website.
- Manage customer enquiries from initial contact through to order placement, preparing accurate quotations and proactively progressing sales opportunities
- Manage customer enquiries, quotations, and sales opportunities through the CRM, following up leads and quotations to maximise conversion rates and customer engagement.
- Research ecological market trends, emerging legislation, and customer requirements.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for new own brand products and product improvements.
- Provide technical feedback to support product development initiatives.
- Monitor competitor products and industry developments.
- Represent Wildcare at conferences, trade shows, and industry events, including delivering presentations and talks to promote Wildcare’s products, services, and expertise within the sector.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Degree or Master's degree in Ecology, Wildlife Management, or a related discipline.
- Exposure to ecological products, habitat creation, protected species mitigation, or ecological consultancy work.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- Commercial awareness and willingness to develop sales skills.
- Ability to interpret ecological reports, plans, and recommendations.
- Confidence working with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Experience within ecological consultancy, conservation, environmental contracting, or related sectors.
- Understanding of UK planning, biodiversity net gain (BNG), and protected species requirements.
- Previous sales, customer service, or account management experience.
- Experience using CRM systems.
- Knowledge of products such as bat boxes, bird boxes, reptile mitigation products, habitat creation products, and biodiversity enhancement solutions.
Pay: £36,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
