Location: Exeter / London / Remote (UK) Level: Mid–Senior (around 5 years’ experience) Type: Mon–Fri, hybrid
This is a role for someone ready to support the growth strategy for a portfolio of Tribe clients, with a clear path to owning client reporting and quarterly business reviews as you get settled. You’ll report to our Head of Growth and have a Growth Exec working alongside you, as part of an eight-person growth team.
Tribe is a Shopify agency built on the integration of design, technology and marketing, with a specialism in consumer brands. Around 25 of us work across design, build, growth and client services, partnering with challenger and established brands to grow their DTC business. Most of our clients need more than a website, and the retainers we run alongside that build are a core part of what we do.
We’re a Shopify Premier Partner, a Recharge Premier Partner (one of five in EMEA), Klaviyo Gold Partner, Skio Partner and a certified B Corp.
Our clients range from brands just past launch to established names doing serious subscription revenue, and our growth team works across all of it: paid media, retention, email, and the commercial thinking that ties it together. We’re hiring this role on the back of strong growth across our client base.
Client Growth Strategy
- Map customer journeys end to end, from acquisition through to repeat purchase
- Identify where AOV, LTV, CAC or conversion rate are underperforming against a brand’s potential
- Turn that analysis into a roadmap the delivery team can act on, working closely with design, build, paid media and retention specialists to make sure their work adds up to a growth number the client can see and trust
Reporting and Client Management
- Run monthly reporting for your portfolio, and support your Head of Growth in leading quarterly business reviews, with a view to owning these outright as you find your feet
- Build the numbers into a narrative the client trusts
- Present in person as well as on paper, including client meetings, quarterly reviews and the odd site visit in Exeter or London
Team and Collaboration
- Support your Head of Growth on strategy and client relationships
- Support your Growth Exec as they build their own experience in the role
- Work alongside specialists in paid media, Klaviyo, design and development
Experience and Skills
- Around five years in ecommerce, in-house or agency, with a real command of the discipline
- Fluency in the metrics that run a DTC business: AOV, LTV, CAC, conversion rate, repeat rate, contribution margin, and comfort building a forecast rather than just reading one someone else has built
- A working knowledge of the channels that drive growth: paid social, paid search, email and SMS, organic and content, and how they work together rather than compete for budget
- Experience with Shopify, and ideally some exposure to subscription platforms such as Recharge or Skio
- An interest in consumer brands and what sets a direct-to-consumer brand apart from something bought off a supermarket shelf or an Amazon listing: the story, the experience, and the reasons a customer chooses to buy direct
The Right Person
- A strong communicator. You help write roadmaps that stakeholders act on and present them with the confidence to hold your ground when a number in the plan is challenged
- Commercially sharp. You’re comfortable building and defending a forecast, not just reporting on one
- A self-starter. You get stuck in without waiting to be told what to do
- Genuinely interested in the brands you work on, and curious about consumer and DTC more broadly
Someone who has spent a few years building real expertise in ecommerce strategy, either inside a brand or inside an agency, and is ready to work closely alongside a Head of Growth while helping a Growth Exec build their own experience. If your ambition is a Head of Growth or Ecommerce Manager role for a brand you rate, this puts you in the room with founders and heads of ecommerce running brands with real momentum behind them.
You’ll need to be a self-starter who’s comfortable with numbers, and someone who enjoys working across several brands and disciplines rather than owning one channel.
You’ll have direct client contact from day one, working alongside people who care about the brands they run rather than just the hours billed against them. There’s a quarterly bonus scheme tied to performance, a month of fully remote working abroad each year, flexible start and finish times (core hours 10am to 4pm), and Summer Fridays.
You’ll learn from a team with real credibility in this space, backed by proper training rather than being left to work things out alone. We socialise regularly as a team, and with the wider industry too, so the relationships you build here go beyond your immediate day-to-day.
Our culture runs on trust and diligence: we expect people to do good work without being checked on, and we take that seriously. What we don’t take too seriously is ourselves. We want people to enjoy the day, while staying sharp about the commercial reality behind every decision we make for a client.
Our HQ is in Exeter, Devon. Most of our clients are based across the South West, in Cornwall and Bristol, and up to London. This role is hybrid or largely remote, with an expectation to travel for client meetings, usually one monthly visit to Exeter or London.
