At Care2Rise, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe, valued and hopeful about their future. That's why we're opening Tigerlily House, a brand-new therapeutic children's home supporting up to two children and young people aged 7–17.
We are looking for caring, resilient and committed Residential Support Workers to join our founding team and help create a home where children can recover from past experiences, build positive relationships and develop the confidence they need to thrive.
This is a unique opportunity to be involved from the very beginning. As part of a small therapeutic home, you will have the time and opportunity to build meaningful relationships with children, support their individual journeys and make a genuine difference to their lives every day.
Working in residential childcare is about much more than routines and record keeping. It is about providing consistency, encouragement and positive role modelling for children who may have experienced significant challenges in their lives. Some days will involve supporting education and daily routines, while others may involve helping a young person learn a new skill, participate in community activities or celebrate an important achievement.
Key Responsibilities
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play an important role in supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes within a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment.
The duties and responsibilities detailed below are intended as a guide to the main requirements of the role and are not intended to be exhaustive. The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties, commensurate with the level of the post, to meet the needs of the children, the home and Care2Rise.
- Provide high-quality day-to-day care, guidance and emotional support to children and young people.
- Build positive, trusting and therapeutic relationships that promote safety, stability and wellbeing.
- Support children and young people to develop independence, confidence, resilience and essential life skills.
- Promote positive behaviour through therapeutic, trauma-informed and child-centred approaches.
- Support children to engage with education, health appointments, daily routines and community activities.
- Plan and participate in activities, hobbies, holidays and experiences that enrich children's lives.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, clean and homely environment at all times.
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers, schools and other relevant professionals.
- Follow safeguarding procedures, risk assessments, care plans and behaviour support strategies.
- Complete daily recordings, reports and other documentation accurately and within required timescales.
- Contribute to care planning, key working responsibilities and review meetings to support positive outcomes for children and young people.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for individuals who are compassionate, emotionally resilient and genuinely passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
Experience within residential childcare, education, youth work, SEN settings or support work would be advantageous, but we also welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate the right values, attitude and commitment to learning.
Applicants must:
- Be aged 21 years or over
- Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Be able to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins
